Maybe this is one of the reasons that San Antonio is overweight:

Boundaries and Buses – Northside Independent School District:
the typical walk-to-bus stop distances are provided below to facilitate a timely and an effective route system.

Category

Walk-to-Bus Stop Distance

Pre-Kinder/Elementary

0.1 miles

Middle/High School(s)

0.2 miles

I lived in an enclosed neighborhood with only one entrance/exit. It takes me less than 20 minutes to walk the circumference of the neighborhood. It might take 15 minutes for a very slow walker to go from the furthermost cul-de-sac to the entrance of our neighborhood. It would take only five minutes to walk from anywhere to the center of our neighborhood. Our neighborhood has 3 stops for high school students.

However, if you live within two miles of the school, you have to walk.

Boundaries and Buses – Northside Independent School District:

Transportation Northside School District will provide transportation for any student who lives more than two miles away from school, or for which there is a certified hazardous situation noted in compliance with TEC, Section 42.155.
